Eligibility criteria exceeded, only two attempts, confirms NTA

The NTA has notified the official eligibility criteria for candidates who wish to sit for the JEE Main Engineering Entrance Examination 2022. This year, aspiring engineers will only get two attempts instead of four.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), in a much needed and important update, has announced the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Mains 2022) eligibility criteria and number of attempts on the official website, jeemain. nta.nic.in. The NTA is also expected to soon release the JEE Mains 2022 exam date and schedule by next week.

The NTA has notified the official eligibility criteria for candidates who wish to sit for the JEE Main Engineering Entrance Examination 2022. This year, aspiring engineers will only get two attempts instead of four.

Registration for JEE Main 2022 is also expected to start soon.

The JEE Main 2022 consists of two articles. Paper 1 is conducted for admission to BE or BTech undergraduate engineering programs in NITs, IIITs, other Central Government Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), funded/recognized institutions or universities by the governments of participating states.

The official notification available on the jeemain.nta.nic.in website reads, “The JEE (Main) – 2022 will be conducted in 02 (two) sessions for admissions in the next academic session.” Along with this, the notification also explains why only two attempts are held for the JEE Main 2022 exam and how it would benefit the candidates who appear.

JEE Main 2022 Eligibility Criteria: Eligibility wise, applicants must meet the following criteria to sit for the Engineering Entrance Examination:

Age Limit: There is an age limit to sit for the JEE Main 2022 exam. However, candidates should note that the institute may have a prescribed age limit as part of their standards of eligibility for admission, which they must qualify to apply for admission.

Academic Qualification: Applicants must have appeared/passed the Class 12 Examination/equivalent in 2020, 2021, or must appear for it in 2022.

Unqualified Candidates: An important point to note here is that candidates who have appeared/passed the Class 12 Examination/equivalent in 2019 or earlier are not eligible to appear for the JEE Main Exam 2022. Similarly, candidates who will take the Class 12 exam in 2023 are also not eligible to take the JEE Main 2022.
